Alina Kopytsa, Ukrainian artist in residence in Berlin, will present her work in an exhibition in the Ratskeller in Lichtenberg, from the 1st till the 23 of July.

The artist in residence program of the association Kunst-Stoffe aims to develop upcycling art – which means the development of artistic practices converting... garbage or unconsidered materials in a valuable object.
Alina Kopytsa, who already developed her own upcycling techniques in Ukraine, have taken advantage of her stay in Berlin – which provides her a different inspiration- to go further into the simplification and diffusion of this process. For this exhibition, she centered on daily life objects , which look refined but made out of garbage. Furthermore, any person without professional skills should be able to re-create those designs according to individual tastes and necessities.
The theme of childhood came spontaneously as a funny and colored possibility of upcycling art. Alina expresses by this way the process of creation during her residency was as lapsing into a second childhood.
Alina Kopytsa will personally present her work on the occasion of her opening, which will take place on the 30th of June, at 19 p.m.
